Jaguar Land Rover Offers Classic Infotainment Head Unit

3rd April 2019

As you probably are aware, Jaguars and Land Rovers are two of the most frequently restored automobiles in the world. You simply don’t see these cars in junkyards anymore, any Jaguar or Land Rover that even faintly resembles the original car (because so many parts have been removed) will usually become a restoration project for someone, somewhere.

Knowing this extraordinary demand exists, Land Rover of South Dade, Miami explained to us that in 1999, the Jaguar Land Rover Company established Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts to provide genuine factory parts to classic car restorers.

What about radios?

Knowing that one of the real frustrations for enthusiasts when restoring older cars is the radio, Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts had a brilliant idea. Why not create a modern radio that looks like a classic one? And that is what they did.

Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts has created a retro-styled modern infotainment head that fits in the old single DIN radio slots of Jaguar and Land Rover classic vehicles. Called Classic Infotainment Systems, this device combines a little of the new with the old.

Designed to suit classic vehicles running on negative earth (newer vehicles use negative grounding systems), the infotainment head is controlled by a 3.5-inch high-resolution touchscreen integrated between traditional rotary controls and buttons. They incorporate customizable satellite navigation in up to 32 languages, smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity and dual DAB/DAB+ digital radio, as well as FM and AM analog reception.

The navigation system’s route guidance can be displayed as 2D or 3D maps, or as turn arrow instructions, and includes TMC traffic alerts. The units can be purchase in five styles: a choice of black or chrome faceplate finishes to suit Jaguars, and a choice of black or silver brushed aluminum for Land Rovers.

A few more details:

  • Premium sound quality with built-in 4 x 45-watt output
  • System languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian
  • Up to 32 languages available for navigation function
  • Fits: Jaguar XJ40, XJS, XJ3
  • Fits Land Rover Defender 90, 110, Classic, Discovery and Freelander

Where to Purchase

All versions of the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Infotainment System are available to purchase at www.jaguarclassicparts.com, and retails for $1,796 before taxes in the U.S. You can buy and have it professionally fitted at an “authorized” Jaguar or Land Rover dealer if you’d like as well.
